HELP!!

I'm at my wits end with my Incredimail.... I've used it for over a year and half and never had problems until about a month ago. Something corrupted the dictionaries and since then it highlights everything as misspelled no mater what language I'm using...... at any rate, the support people are clueless. I tried uninstalling and deleteing everything I could think of and waiting a few days hopeing it would have a clean install and I could start from scratch but that didn't help. As soon as I downloaded it it recognized my PC and installed everything with all the settings I previously had and the corrupted dictionary as well.

Can anyone tell me how to wipe out all traces of a program so that when I download it again it doesn't recognize my PC or, do any of you fellows know what makes it recognize my PC.... so I can remove it? This may sound insane but, is there a program that works like ad-aware but instead of removing spyware removes any and all traces of an installed program........ and the Incredimail registry thingies?

I'm not very PC savvy so I thought I'd ask you fellows.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello
Here´s a link to Easy Cleaner, free and works nice.
It will solve your problem with the registryentries and clean it safe, so you can install Incredimail again.

You can also try to use this free regcleaner, to be sure that the active x components are gone.

Lady Aarielle ...without playing favourites, etc...I strongly recommend you follow  yrag 's advice over that of some of the others here.

The registry is NOT a place for the novice, but at the same time 'reformatting' is the panacea of the desperate...

On the other hand it's a rather easy word for me,since it's a Greek word meaning all-healing remedy,a cure-all. In Greek myths Panacaea, along with Hygia, was one of the daughters and helpers of Asklipios, the minor deity -actually an immortified mortal- of health and medicine.

The saga of IncrediMail.... Part II

Jafo, what I needed today was the panacea of the nineties.......... a bottle of 'Prozac'!!!

Well fellows, first of all I would like to preface this by thanking all of you for your input and advice..... all of it helped.

In an effort to remove the tracks, and registry thingies (as you can see I'm not very familiar with the nomenclature of computers) I tried "Registry Mechanic", "System Mechanic", and "Tweak Now", which found 180+ traces so I removed them all and rebooted. Everything seems to be running smoothly. As Yrag said I didn't get them all..... the reason I know this is because I preformed this 'little ritual' thrice and when I re-installed IM it loaded with my previous settings and the corrupt dictionaries, yet again!! However, the last time, I cleaned everything I could think of and have decided to look for another email handler.

The reason I liked IncrediMail originally was the dictionaries, however, they are not of paramount importance. I once tried "Outlook Express" as I mentioned earlier, but, had frequent problems with it.

I am going to look into "Thunderbird" as werewolf suggested and if there are other email programs that any of you would recommend I'd appreciate your suggestions.

FYI

Using programs that "clean-up" your computer is one of the most dangerous things that you can do. It almost always causes irreperable damage if you don't know what you are doing.
I recommend backing up your system to a seperate partition and/or DVD-R using a program such as Acronis True Image and then back up your e-mail, documents etc. to a separate partition and/or CD-R/RW.
I also recommend frequent System Restore Points if using Windows XP. I especially recommend setting a Restore Point before installing any questionable software so that you can immediately "roll-back" if you have problems.

Formatting may seem like a time-consuming task, but if you do it once and then back-up your system as described above you will save yourself many hours in the future. Ask yourself how many hours do you spend trying to repair problems when they go wrong and you might see that restoring from an image or restore point is the most efficient way to go.

kweishan9-

Thank you, for your information, I did backup my system and have come to be a firm believer of creating my own restore points...... amazingly enough one of my most annoying problems came from a microsoft windows update, so I create my own restore points frequently.

Desperation prompted me to use these registry cleaners and thankfully there's no unpleasant aftermath to deal with although I was prepared for it. The wisdom of experience and perusing threads has taught me to be very careful with what I install on my PC.
